Are you acquainted with him at all? Because, to be honest, I sort of suspect he's up to something and I'd like to tag along for the first shift, at least.

I also know how to cook, so I can help out.

Good, we're on the same page, because I definitely think he has something up his sleeve.

If he comes in and he reeks or is filthy, don't be shy about turning him away. I haven't pushed him too hard on that at this point, but when he's making food for the whole ship, it's different.

I'll attend the first couple shifts, help out, and then come by randomly as long as this spell of wanting to help lasts.

I'll come to the first shift and pop in sporadically afterward... I don't want to horn in on your job, I know people value the duties they take on. [at least sometimes. She wouldn't want to impugn another warden's competence also.] But please do watch him closely. I don't trust this sudden spate of helpfulness.
